LOCAL PARK GRANTS
The Local Park Grant Program consists of 5 individual programs that assist local units of government with the acquisition and/or development of public recreation areas and facilities throughout the State of Texas. The Program provides 50% matching grants on a reimbursement basis to eligible applicants. Once funded, all grant assisted sites must be dedicated as parkland in perpetuity, properly maintained and open to the public.
ELIGIBLE ENTITIES
Eligible applicants include political subdivisions of the State of Texas legally responsible for providing public recreation services to their citizens. This includes cities, counties, river authorities, municipal utility districts, and other special districts.

RECREATIONAL TRAILS GRANTS
TPWD administers the National Recreational Trails Fund in Texas under the approval of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). This federally funded program receives its funding from a portion of federal gas taxes paid on fuel used in non-highway recreational vehicles. The reimbursable grants can be up to 80% of project cost with a maximum of $300,000 for non-motorized trail grants and a maximum award of $600,000 for motorized (off-highway vehicle) trail grants (call 512-538-4427 for more information regarding potential motorized trail grants). Funds can be spent on both motorized and non-motorized recreational trail projects such as the construction of new recreational trails, to improve existing trails, to develop trailheads or trailside facilities, and to acquire trail corridors.

COMMUNITY OUTDOOR OUTREACH PROGRAM (CO-OP)
Reimbursement grants for programming that introduces under-served populations to environmental and conservation programs as well as TPWD mission oriented outdoor activities.
Eligible organizations can apply to use these funds for programming expenses such as equipment, leasing transportation, staff, liability insurance, food, program materials, etc.
ELIGIBLE ENTITIES
Grants are available to tax-exempt organizations such as local government, Universities, school districts and non-profit organizations. This program builds relationships with constituencies who have been under-represented in Texas Parks & Wildlife Department activities and programs. Target audiences served include low income, ethnic minority, female and individuals with a disability.
